Marangu Route

Overview

The Marangu route, also known as the “Coca-Cola” route, is the oldest and most well-established route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is unique for offering dormitory-style sleeping huts instead of traditional camping.

Accommodation

The huts provide a comfortable stay with 60 bunk beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Mattresses and pillows are provided, but guests are required to bring their own sleeping bags.

Facilities

Each hut has communal dining halls and basic washroom facilities. The lower huts are equipped with flushing toilets and running water, while Kibo Hut offers long-drop toilets and buckets of water.

Experience

The Marangu route offers a more comfortable trekking experience, ideal for those who prefer not to camp. The trek can be completed in either 5 or 6 days. However, for better acclimatization and a higher chance of success, we recommend the 6-day itinerary.
