

Climbing Gear for Kilimanjaro Expedition – Available for Hire at Our Office
We have curated a packing list of items you will need for your trip, based on years of climbing experience. While this list serves as a helpful guide, we encourage you to research specific brands or types of gear that best suit your personal preferences. Please note that we are happy to assist with arranging the hire of most items, particularly those listed under the 'Equipment' section
Upper Body
➢ 2 – Long sleeves shirts, lightweight fabric (e.g., SmartWool or moisture-wicking fabric)- $7 for hire➢ 1 – Short sleeve shirt, lightweight fabric- $7 for hire
➢ 1 – Very light fleece/micro fleece or power stretch fleece- $7 for hire
➢ 1 – Soft shell jacket, heavier fleece or synthetic sweater- $7 for hire
➢ 1 – Belay jacket (preferably down)- $20 for hire
➢ 1 – Poncho (optional in case of rain)- $15 for hire
Lower Body
➢ 2 – Hiking pants-$10 for hire➢ 1 – Fleece pants-$10 for hire
➢ 1 – Water proof pants-$10 for hire
➢ 2 – Long underwear, lightweight fabric (e.g., Smart Wool or moisture-wicking fabric)-$10 for hire (Underwear and bras as needed)
Hands
➢ 1 – Lightweight or soft shell pair of gloves- $10 for hire➢ 1 – Thick pair of waterproof gloves, preferably with Gore-Tex – $10 for hire
➢ 1 – Thick pair of mittens (optional for those whose hands get really cold)-$10 for hire
Feet
➢ 1 – Hiking boots, insulated and waterproof-$25 for hire➢ 1 – Tennis or sports shoes to wear at camp- $25 for hire
➢ 3 – Hiking socks, preferably wool-$7 for hire
➢ 3 – Lightweight sock liners-$7 for hire
➢ 1 – Gaiters (optional, but recommended)-$10 for hire
Headwear
➢ Four season’s sleeping bag-$30 for hire➢ Sleeping bag liner-$15 for hire
➢ Trekking poles-FREE
➢ 1 – Sun hat (wide brimmed)-$10 for hire
➢ 1 – Lightweight wool liner hat (optional)-$15 for hire
➢ 1 – Thick wool or fleece hat -$15 for hire
➢ 1 – Balaclava or sky mask-$10 for hire
Accessories and Toiletries
➢ Sunglasses- $25 for hire➢ 32 oz water bottle (recommend 1 or 2 Nalgene bottles)-$10 for hire
➢ Water bladder for your backpack, at least 2 liters-$10 for hire
➢ Camping towel, microfiber or lightweight- $10 for hire
➢ Stuff bags or plastic bags to help organize your clothes and keep things dry-$20 for hire
➢ Sunscreen-$30 for hire
➢ Water proof duffle bag (this is the bag with the majority of your belongings that the porters will carry while you hike) – $20 FOR HIRE
➢ Day pack (this is the bag you will carry for the day’s hike)-$20 FOR HIRE
➢ Lip balm
➢ Hand sanitizer and/or wet wipes
➢ Toilet paper
➢ Hikers first-aid kit
➢ Toiletries
➢ Prescription medication
➢ Extra contacts (if you wear them, or an extra pair of glasses)
➢ Camera
➢ Extra batteries for electronics you bring with you
➢ Snacks such as energy bars (1 to 2 per day)
