Kilimanjaro climbing- Rongai route 6 days Itinerary

Kilimanjaro climbing- Rongai route 6 days Itinerary is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. Though gaining popularity amongst climbers, this route still experiences low crowds. Rongai has a more gradual slope than the mountain’s other routes. It is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the popular Marangu route, for those who would like a more remote hike, and for those who are climbing during the rainy season (the north side receives less precipitation). Rongai is a moderately difficult route and is highly recommended, especially for those with less backpacking experience.

Departure & Return Location

Kilimajaro International Airport (JRO) (Google Map)

Departure Time

8:30AM After breakfast

What to Expect
  • The Rongai route is considered to be one of the easier routes up Kilimanjaro. The climb is both gradual and steady.
  • Rongai Route is highly recommended for the trekkers who lack the time to spend more days on Mount Kilimanjaro.
  • You should expect to start your hiking through a true wilderness area towards the jagged Mawenzi Peak and then cross barren desert saddle before climbing up Kibo’s eastern crater wall.
  • Pamoja Kilimanjaro & Safaris team will ensure your dreams become reality
